Septimius Severus, 193-211. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 2.84 g, 6 h), Rome, 202-210. SEVERVS PIVS AVG Laureate head of Septimius Severus to right. Rev. AFRICA Africa, wearing elephant-skin headdress, standing front, head to right, drawing out fold of her drapery with her right hand; at her feet, lion to right. BMC 309. Cohen 25. RIC 253. Beautifully toned and exceptionally well preserved for this issue. Small flan crack, otherwise, good extremely fine.

From the Joseph Markowitz Collection (1897-1981), brought to Israel in 1949 and kept in the family ever since.
